Each vintage, the Hardy's winemakers select the best Shiraz to carry the "Eileen Hardy" label. By taking a selection of cool climate regions where only the best parcels of fruit are selected, handpicked, naturally fermented and placed in high-quality French oak, the hallmarks of this outstanding wine are formed. The pinnacle of Shiraz for the 2015 vintage from 2 classic old vine Shiraz sites from McLaren Vale. Traditionally vinified with natural yeast, open fermentation and basket pressing has resulted in a wine of great power and depth of flavour with balance and persistence of flavour. A complex, layered McLaren Vale Shiraz displaying classic dark chocolate, sweet plum with savoury influences of black olive and cedar oak. Full of flavour, coupled with a tightly wound structure that will continue to unravel for years in the cellar. The start of the growing season was highlighted by an elongated period of cool weather leading to some variable fruit flowering and set. The remaining period until harvest was relatively smooth but with small crops and good vine canopies an early vintage was very likely. This eventuated and whilst vintage was short and compact wine quality is very good with richly flavoured wines showing brightness of fruit and structural balanced palates.
